The Potteries Museum will be holding an exhibition called BUILDING JERUSALEM-Bethesda Chapel Reborn from Saturday 23rd January until Sunday 9th May 2010.
Bethesda Chapel is one of the most significant historic chapels in the city of Stoke on Trent and the exhibition explores the fascinating history of this former Methodist New Connexion chapel and its plans for the future.
Many unique items will be on show including possibly the only remaining complete comfort parcel sent from Bethesda to local troops in WWI.
During the exhibition there will be a number of bookable guided tours of Bethesda, allowing the visitor to see the chapel from the gallery.
There will also be a number other of events: -
- 20th February: Methodism in the Potteries: from Wesley to Bethesda.
A free talk in the museum by Mr. J. H. Anderson starting at 2pm. - 27th February: The History of Bethesda Chapel:
A free talk in the museum by Mr. J. S. Booth starting at 2pm. - 6th March: The Historic Chapels Trust: Its Commitment to Bethesda and plans for the Future.
A free talk in the museum By Dr. J. Freeman starting at 2pm. - 20th March: Repairing Bethesda: Looking at Architectural Restoration.
A free talk in the museum by Mr. A. Mathias starting at 2pm.
There will also be a five week course called Building Jerusalem: Bethesda in Context in partnership with Keele University.
